SO Active, 500g Bath Soak

$18.50

An easy way to relieve sore muscles after exercise or sport.

SO: Active contains Natural Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate), Organic Sodium Bicarbonate to neutralise lactic acid, and 5 essential oils used for their pain and tension-relieving properties.

  • Add to your bath and soak for 20 minutes
  • Use as a foot soak
  • Grab a handful to use as an exfoliating foot scrub

Rest and recovery are at a premium with our busy lives these days, but you know they are an important part of reaching your full potential in your chosen sport, easing sore muscles, and remaining injury-free.

SO: How about something quick and easy that you can do at home with no special equipment? (Ok, you need a bath. But if you don’t have one of them, a foot soak will still get the good stuff into you).

Our So: Active bath soaks are helping professional and amateur sports teams and athletes of all ages to:

  • Relax tense muscles and support recovery
  • Relieve muscular pains and cramps
  • Support healthy sleep patterns
  • Increase energy levels
  • Reduce performance anxiety and general stress levels

… naturally, easily, and cost-effectively.

SO Active contains Natural Epsom salt, Organic sodium bicarb, and a blend of Wintergreen, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Clove and Lavender essential oils to help relieve sore muscles and fatigue, boost energy, calm an anxious mind, reduce feelings of stress, and help you enter a state of relaxation before sleep.

SO:Active  is NZ-made from ethically-sourced ingredients. It’s vegan, cruelty-free, and suitable for all ages.

The pouch can be recycled at a Soft Plastic Recycling bin.

  • Do you know anyone who’s training for a big race?
  • Or an event like CrossFit games or a squash tournament?
  • Your sports-mad friend who keeps picking up niggling injuries.
  • Your child’s sports coach as a thank you for their efforts.
  • YOUR sports coach!
  • An athlete or sports player who wants to improve their muscle recovery and give themselves a competitive edge.
  • Your kid who’s super sporty but somehow always forgets to stretch after training and matches.
  • Anyone who’s taken part in one of those events that Kiwis are so good at organising, like Tough Mudders, and whose body is now complaining!

Add a third to a half* of the contents of the pouch to your bath and soak for 20 minutes. Great to do in the evening as the act of taking a warm bath also encourages sleep.

You can also use it as a foot soak – Add a cupful of the salts to a tub of warm water. Soak your feet for 15 minutes. Great as part of a home pedicure treatment. You can also grab a handful to use as an exfoliating foot scrub before you soothe your feet in the warm water. Remember to keep a towel close by for when you’re finished.

* If you are training hard or your body needs some extra TLC, using the whole pouch in one bath is beneficial.

This one is down to personal preference. We know some people who have a bath every night to help them sleep. Some people like a muscle-soothing bath after they’ve had a hard workout or sports match. Others like to have a stress-relieving bath the night before an important event to help with both sleep and stress levels. Humans do seem to thrive with routine though!

Personal preference again! Some people say if you stay in an Epsom salt bath for more than 15 minutes you will re-absorb toxins from the bath water. But, unless you’ve had the water so hot that you’ve been sweating during your bath, you won’t be immediately releasing toxins. Your body will excrete its toxins as usual, once they’ve been processed through the liver etc.

We don’t see the need to do this, unless you have sensitive skin and can feel a residue.

Your bath should be warm but not too hot. We are told between 33 and 37 degrees is good. But, to be honest, I don’t keep a thermometer by my bath! If the water is too hot, it can dry out your skin, as well as making you all red, sweaty and uncomfortable.

Any of our soaks that contain Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate). Magnesium helps with hundreds  of your body’s functions, including the removal of toxins. Sulphate can strengthen the walls of the digestive tract and make release of toxins easier.

Magnesium can boost the brain neurotransmitters that are responsible for inducing sleep and reducing stress. Magnesium is necessary for producing serotonin, your ‘feel good’ brain chemical. And it supports your adrenal glands, helping to keep your nervous system calmed rather than excitable.

A warm bath can promote sleep because it raises your core body temperature which then falls after your bath. Humans are designed to sleep better when we have a lower body temperature. So this drop in temperature when you get out of the bath is aiding your body’s natural desire for sleep at the right time!
Add a magnesium-based bath soak for even more ZZZZ-inducing benefits: Magnesium regulates melatonin, which is the hormone responsible for your sleep patterns.

Dead Sea Salt is rich in nutrients like magnesium, calcium, sulphur and zinc and can help soothe symptoms like itching and inflammation. It’s a good idea to make sure your bath is warm, not overly hot, and to bathe for only 10-15 minutes so as not to dry out your skin. Our Dead Sea Salt is pure and unscented so is suitable for sensitive skin.

I regularly order the ‘So Active’ bath salts for my 14-year-old who doesn’t like to do warm-down stretches after football training/games. Instead he has a good soak in the bath with these salts, and they work brilliantly to help relax his muscles. I occasionally use them too when I’m feeling sore & stiff and love them – they are our go-to product for sore muscles! – Catherine F
