Turns out Granny did know best! Bath salts (the relaxing ones, not the make-you-crazy kind) are popular again in this era of self-care and switching off from the rat race. Good news if you don’t have a bath (don’t like baths or are on water restrictions) our bath salts are great to use as body scrubs in the shower, and as soothing foot soaks too.

Our products are NZ-made, from pure, non-GMO ingredients, and are not tested on animals. They contain no added colours, fillers or flow agents.

Ingredients

Natural Epsom salt is full of magnesium that we need to help our minds be calm and our bodies relax, and to support healthy sleep. The more stressed out we are, the more magnesium we need!

Himalayan pink salt contains 84 minerals and nutrients that nourish and replenish us.

Sodium bicarbonate softens and deodorises skin and can reduce lactic acid.

SO:Active is 500g. The other 4 blends are 450g pouches.

  • Your best friend, just to let them know you’re thinking of them.
  • A mum who is hanging out for some pampering self-care.
  • Your mum to say thanks for all she does.
  • Men can enjoy this blend too of course!
  • That person you know who is always on the go with no time to treat themselves to the little luxuries in life.
  • The teacher who looks exhausted and it’s only week 4 of term!

This one is down to personal preference. We know some people who have a bath every night to help them sleep. Some people like a muscle-soothing bath after they’ve had a hard workout or sports match. Others like to have a stress-relieving bath the night before an important event to help with both sleep and stress levels. Humans do seem to thrive with routine though!

Personal preference again! Some people say if you stay in an Epsom salt bath for more than 15 minutes you will re-absorb toxins from the bath water. But, unless you’ve had the water so hot that you’ve been sweating during your bath, you won’t be immediately releasing toxins. Your body will excrete its toxins as usual, once they’ve been processed through the liver etc.

We don’t see the need to do this, unless you have sensitive skin and can feel a residue.

Your bath should be warm but not too hot. We are told between 33 and 37 degrees is good. But, to be honest, I don’t keep a thermometer by my bath! If the water is too hot, it can dry out your skin, as well as making you all red, sweaty and uncomfortable.

Any of our soaks that contain Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate). Magnesium helps with hundreds  of your body’s functions, including the removal of toxins. Sulphate can strengthen the walls of the digestive tract and make release of toxins easier.

Magnesium can boost the brain neurotransmitters that are responsible for inducing sleep and reducing stress. Magnesium is necessary for producing serotonin, your ‘feel good’ brain chemical. And it supports your adrenal glands, helping to keep your nervous system calmed rather than excitable.

A warm bath can promote sleep because it raises your core body temperature which then falls after your bath. Humans are designed to sleep better when we have a lower body temperature. So this drop in temperature when you get out of the bath is aiding your body’s natural desire for sleep at the right time!
Add a magnesium-based bath soak for even more ZZZZ-inducing benefits: Magnesium regulates melatonin, which is the hormone responsible for your sleep patterns.

Dead Sea Salt is rich in nutrients like magnesium, calcium, sulphur and zinc and can help soothe symptoms like itching and inflammation. It’s a good idea to make sure your bath is warm, not overly hot, and to bathe for only 10-15 minutes so as not to dry out your skin. Our Dead Sea Salt is pure and unscented so is suitable for sensitive skin.

Alas I don’t have a bath, however I have been using the salts as a scrub in the shower – I was pleasantly surprised at how soft they feel against my skin and they release the most delicious aroma (currently using Luxurious) as they melt against my skin. Highly recommend and I will be buying again. – Sarah C

    Gentle on sensitive skin
I have sensitive/reactive skin and usually stay away from any essential oils but I found all 3 of these gentle enough. Relaxing is the gentlest and my favourite of the three. When I have a bath with the relaxing pouch before bed I find I wake up feeling much better rested. Highly recommend! – Tiffany. Fairlie, Canterbury
